LOCKED geometry tied to LDD-07 vent risk

LDD-20 · Primary Social Counter

One-line intent

A performance-driven social system — not a kitchen island, an event surface for shared cooking.

Cost drivers

Counter top (50 sqft × $100–250) $5–12.5K · Cabinetry $12–28K · Korean BBQ unit $4–10K + plates $0.5–1.5K · Bridge induction $3–8K · Counter electrical/plumbing $1.5–4K · Air curtain hardware $2–4K. Total: $25–55K (folded into $95K Kitchen line).

Air-gap concerns

  • Counter performance depends on LDD-07 vent working. Solving the vent solves the counter.
  • 42" depth = 17% higher top material cost. Worth it for social use.
  • 14' run without center seamwithdrawn: the LDD spec is "seams at zone boundaries — never through center." Tri-sectional slab (Prep | BBQ | Support) was always the design. Bonus: BBQ slab acts as natural thermal-expansion island.
  • Counter overhang structural support — 15–18" overhang on 42" creates a moment; engineered substrate.
  • Outlet placement may conflict with air curtain front edge.
  • Korean BBQ heat tolerance — solved by stainless trim ring / thermal break. Per builder, install a stainless steel trim ring or thermal break frame around the BBQ unit; heat never contacts stone or quartz directly. Removes the material-cracking concern; soapstone, quartzite, engineered stone all work.
